Top tips for converting your basement

The most popular request we get here at Stone7 is from families wanting to make their home as big as possible. Loft conversions are a popular way to extend, however this can involve losing valuable space on the first floor to create access to the eaves. Extending the footprint of the house generally reduces the size of the garden or driveway so the challenge is how to create space without taking space away?

Basement conversions can be the perfect solution, especially if there is already access to a cellar space. There are many ways of creating extra living space in the basement, be that for a guest room with ensuite, games room, home office or gym. Some families even choose to move their kitchen and utility area below ground, opening up the ground floor with a dramatic mezzanine level, maximising light and air flow.

The options for converting your basement are endless, however it is always advisable to get professional advice during the planning stages. We were recently asked to offer some expert advice on what to think about when converting your basement by Origin, the bi-fold door manufacturer. Read the full article here.

We are always happy to advise on the best ways to extend your home to ensure that you are getting the best solution for your budget and available space. Give us a call or send us an email to arrange a convenient time for us to come and have a chat.
